Quick Bio
Vic Carucci was born
and raised in Whitesboro. He graduated
from Whitesboro high school in 1975 and
had been working at the Observer-Dispatch
as a sports stringer since 9th grade.
He began working full-time at the O-D
in the late '70s and then went to the
Camden, New Jersey Courier-Post, where he covered the Philadelphia
Eagles.
He then worked at the Buffalo News where
he covered the Bills during their glory
years--including the four straight Super
Bowls. He worked at the Buffalo News until
the early 2000s and then became the national
editor of NFL.com.
Carucci is the fomer president of the
Pro Football Writer's of America (PFWA)
and received awards from the PFWA, the
Associated Press, Sports Editors, the
New York State AP Association and the
New Jersey Press Association.
Carucci has written seven books about
pro football: Armed and Dangerous, the
Jim Kelly autobiography which he co-wrote
with Kelly himself; Buffalo Bills and
the Almost-Dream Season; By a Nose; Do
You Love Football?!: Winning with heart,
passion and not much sleep; Every Down,
Every Distance: My journey to the NFL;
Sunday Morning Quarterback: Going deep
on the strategies, myths and mayhem of
football; and They Call Me Dirty.
