George Burns was born in 1889 and joined
the Major Leagues in 1911. His first team
was the New York Giants. He was marked
by his quiet demeanor, which earned him
his nickname, "Silent George."
During
his notable career Burns accrued over
2000 career hits, and led the NL in runs
scored and walks five times.
