Bio
Larry Trivieri, Jr. was born January 15,
1956 in Utica, NY.
He knew from
an early age that he wanted to be a writer,
he just didn't know what kind he would
end up being.
Trivieri attended college
for a short amount of time before making
the decision to drop out.
After leaving college, he
moved to Manhattan to pursue his dream
of writing.
The turning point in his
career began in the mid-80s when he developed
chronic bronchitis. "Aside from a
cold, I'd never been sick before, but
despite seeing a regular doctor, I couldn't
shake the congestion and weakness that
the bronchitis left me with. Finally,
in desperation, I visited an acupuncturist,"
Trivieri said.
The visit changed his life
and intrigued him to learn more about
alternative medicine. "I read books
on the subject and made visits to all
sorts of non-traditional healers such
as chiropractors, herbalists [and] homeopaths,
not because I was sick, but because I
wanted to experience firsthand how these
therapies worked," Trivieri said.
After working in Manhattan,
he decided to move to Los Angeles where
he met Burton Goldberg, a successful businessman
who for many years had been exploring
a wide range of alternative therapies
and had decided to produce a book on the
subject. Trivieri became his right-hand
man over the next two years, working closely
with over 400 of the world's leading alternative
physicians and meeting many of their patients.
The end result was Alternative
Medicine: The Definitive Guide, which
has been recognized as the 'bible of alternative
medicine', and has sold over 700,000 copies.
Shortly after its publication, Trivieri
moved back to Utica where he wrote four
other critically acclaimed books and completely
revised the Guide's 2nd edition.
Last year he founded 1healthyworld.com,
a Web site devoted to covering all aspects
of holistic and alternative medicine.
