Born on August 3, 1921, Hayden Carruth grew to be an accomplished poet and writer. He has written and published numerous books of poetry including Scrambled Eggs and Whiskey and Collected Shorter Poems, 1946-1991. Carruth has worked for such publications as Poetry, Harper's, and the Hudson Review.

Carruth taught Creative Writing at Syracuse University until recently. Today he resides in upstate New York.
