Poet Brett Axel

BIO
Brett Axel is a poet, editor and peace
activist that was born in New Brunswick,
NJ. He grew up in New Hope, PA and moved
to Utica, NY just a few years ago.
Axel has written poems that have appeared
in over 40 publications such as Temple,
Longshot and the Monserrut Review.
He has written books including Diner
Eucharist, an off Broadway play and
Disaster Relief and First on
the Fire, both books of poetry. He
is also the editor of the anti-war anthology,
Will Work For Peace.
Axel spends his time traveling to give
dramatic readings, conduct workshops and
lecture on topics ranging from writing
for an audience to the politics of getting
published.
He was a member of the Woodstock National
Slam Team in 1999 and in 2000. His works
were nominated for four Pushcart Prizes,
said to be the "single best measure
of the state of affairs in American literature
today," by the New York Times.
In 1996, his play, En Passaunt,
earned a Parkhurst Award.
