Quick BIO

Linus Yale was born in Salisbury, NY in 1821. He founded a lock factory in nearby Newport, NY in 1847 which began his tradition of excellence in lock making.

His most famous lock is the "Yale Bank Lock," which was widely used in bank vaults. The "Octagon House" in Newport features his locks on every door.

The lock company moved to Philadelphia and then eventually Stamford, Conn.

Yale remains a trusted name in locks today.
