BIO
Samuel Morse was a Yale
student, struggling with art, who discovered
an interest for electricity. Traveling
back from his studies in Europe, Morse
heard of the electromagnet and came up
with the idea of an electric telegraph.
After approximately five
years and much development, Morse applied
for a patent. He also developed a number-word
dictionary that came to be known as "Morse
Code."
After his success, Morse
gathered his family and settled down near
Poughkeepsie on a plot of land he dubbed
"Locust Grove."
