Big Moose, July 12 - The body of Miss Grace Brown of Otselic was recovered from Big Moose lake this afternoon at 3:30 o’clock. Carl Grahm, of Albany, her companion, is still missing, and the dragging of the lake for him continued until a late hour this evening.
Considerable mystery surrounds this case, and there is much excitement here There is no certainty to the identity of the couple. They arrived at Big Moose lake yesterday morning by the southbound Mohawk & Malone train, registered at Hotel Glenmore and went out immediately for arrow on the lake. This noon their boat was found upside down in South Bay near Camp Crag ...
… The man had with him a small handbag, and this they took into the boat with them. It was understood here that they had stopped off the see the lake, and, that they would be here but a few hours, as they intended to take the next train south. Where they came from or whither they were going is a matter of conjecture.
The body of Miss Brown lies at Hotel Glenmore. So far as can be ascertained it shows no marks of violence. The coroner has been notified, and is expected here in the morning. Efforts are also being made to locate relatives at the addresses given in the hotel register, but thus far no word has been received. There are many rumors arising doubtless from the fact that the lake was not sufficiently rough yesterday to overturn a boat, and that the drowning of the woman could not have occurred only as the result of a mishap.
