To the Editor: There has been a 40% increase in the incidence of breast cancer among American women in the last quarter of the 20th century, coinciding with the legalization of abortion in this country. The clear biological basis for this connection becomes ever more apparent as an adequate latent period elapses since the abortion surge of the l980s. On Saturday, Nov. 9, area women and physicians will have a chance to become educated about the abortion-breast cancer (ABC) link. Dr. Joel Brind, Ph.D., will be speaking in Syracuse about the research in which 28 out of 37 worldwide studies have independently linked induced abortion with breast cancer. Dr. Brind, a Yale University graduate who received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from New York University, is a Professor of Human Biology and Endocrinology at Baruch College of the City University of New York. He is a specialist in reproductive steroid hormones and their link to human disease, and is founder of the Breast Cancer Prevention Institute in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Dr. Brind and colleagues at Penn State College of Medicine completed a comprehensive review and meta-analysis of the research linking abortion and breast cancer. Their peer-reviewed research paper was published in the British Medical Association's epidemiological journal, and its validity received worldwide scientific and medical recognition, including that of the prestigious Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in London. It is imperative that women understand the risk they incur by choosing abortion, particularly in states like New York, whose legislatures, fearful of offending the rich and powerful pro-abortion lobby, have consistently blocked Informed Consent laws. Please call Friends for Life, Inc. at 468-6798 for information about its forthcoming educational seminar featuring Dr. Joel Brind. Barbara Bauer Zagar Deansboro, NY

I agree that everyone should have as much information as possible, not just women. Tis a subject that i fear most people put their heads in the sand however tis a subject which should interest us all as in my opinion we cant keep doing this to ourselfs.

Tis a full moon and my prized pregnant cow has lost her calf. And therefore if your favorite bovine is nearing delivery and there's a full moon coming on, make sure you keep her in the barn where the moon doesn't shine. Oh yes, be sure you mask the windows so no errant moonbeams can enter either directly or by reflection. Make real sense doesn't it?? My point is that any coincidental occurrances do not in themselves provide grounds for a conclusion for a probable result. Obviously, any woman considering terminating an unwanted pregnancy should do so only after fully understanding all possible ramifications and possible after effects. And any politian et-al who so choses to block any woman's right to being so informed should be considered worthy of an early American treatise for serious wrong doers. It's commonly refered to as a justified liberal application of "tar and feathers". Regards
