Blues Society actually has a pretty big draw. The only reason its canceled is because the Devereux's renovations are taking longer than expected. Has nothing to do with the music.
I am actually very disappointed about this. It is not very often that there are different types of music in this area. This is very unfortunate, especially for people that would like to experience different things.
I have been a musician my whole life and I will be the first to admit that Blues Music is not my cup of tea. Whether or not it's YOUR thing, I think there's something to be said for (and appreciated about) both. You can find blues music at any level in this area; from 3-chord SRV-cover bands to more experienced groups (i.e. Mike Grimaldi, Jimmy Wolf or Los Blancos)... and even if they only play 3 or 4 chords, I'd consider them great at what they do. 90% of bands have at least one song with only 3 chords, so if that's a crime in your book then the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Beach Boys, ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughn are some the worst offenders and should be banned from radio.... right? Is that what you're getting at?? Sorry, I guess what I mean to say is, the 3 chord argument just doesn't settle with me.. And I must add, if you're sick of hearing 3 chord blues, a BLUES JAM is absolutely not the place to go; and to complain about it would be like walking into Nice 'n Easy and complaining about the pizza. If you don't want to hear blues, don't go to the Devereux that night... is it that big of an inconvenience to you??
some of the best songs ever written have 3 chords.james brown's best were with one chord.then rock n roll and punk rock followed.that first comment was just ignorant.

That's good news. Maybe people want to hear music with more than 3 chords.
