Woodstock '99
Did you participate in the mess known as Woodstock ’99?
The O-D soon will feature a story about the 10th anniversary of the rock debacle, and we’d like to run residents’ photos along with the story.
If you have some to share, please e-mail them to jedwards@uticaod.com by Thursday. But, keep ‘em clean!
And if you were at Woodstock, I'd love to interview you about your experience this week. Reach me at cbaber@uticaod.com with your contact information. Thanks.

We were at Woodstock and had a great time although there were several problems. First off, the prices. The poor kids that attended Woodstock were broke after the first night. What an absolute disgrace it was to see that. Greed ruined the concert environment. Second, there was no one to pick up the garbage. The kids were very conscious of disposing the garbage in garbage containers in the beginning but when all the containers became full and no one emptied them, then it became a mess. Thirdly, you don't advertise over the air waves that you have this impregnable security around the perimeter that no one could penetrate. You only invite people to try. And lastly, you do not end a very hot, weekend concert, at night. You end it during day light so police and security have a better view of the surroundings and are able to effectively clear the grounds while retaining order.
Woodstock was a great experience for my wife and I but the organizers made some very bad fundamental mistakes.
