Rachel Robinson will bring history home to Cooperstown

When the Baseball Hall of Fame dedicates Jackie Robinson’s new plaque on June 25, Rachel Robinson – Jackie’s widow – will be on hand for the ceremony.

The occasion will mark a rare chance for baseball fans – and history buffs – to see and hear a woman who was an integral part of changing this country for the better.

It is impossible to overstate the effect of Robinson’s debut for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Before Brown vs. Board of Education, before Rosa Parks, before the Civil Rights Act, Robinson paved the way for change in our society.

He was also one of the most exciting players the game has ever known.

Tickets for the event at the Hall can be purchased by calling 607-547-0397.
