Hamilton and Trinity student-athletes star in NCAA Tournament

Nine days after Hamilton College’s women’s lacrosse team won the NCAA Division III national title, Trinity – a school Hamilton teams play regularly in New England Small College Athletic Conference competition – won the Division III baseball title.

Trinity had its 44-game winning streak snapped in Tuesday’s first game against Johns Hopkins in a 4-3 loss at the Division III World Series. But the Bantams rebounded to win the second game 5-4 and knock Hopkins from the double-elimination tournament to take the title.

Hamilton and Trinity prove beyond a doubt that academics and athletics can co-exist at the highest level. Players at those schools are student-athletes in every way.
