Delaney: Sauquoit Valley's turf in for a workout

Sauquoit Valley will be one of the busiest high schools in Section III through early November. And maybe one of the richest after Section III uses the high school's artificial turf field for field hockey and soccer playoff games.

The action at Sauquoit will begin on Saturday with six field hockey games beginning at 9 a.m. Mount Markham will meet either Sherburne or Canastota in a Class C continental breakfast semifinal game. Holland Patent will play either Cazenovia or Herkimer at 11 a.m. The rest of the day: Class B semifinals at 3 and 5 and Class D semifinals at 1 and 7.

The Section III boys soccer finals will be played at Sauquoit on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 because of a conflict at Cortland State. Game times are to be determined.
