Delaney: 6 area soccer teams state ranked

With 2 1/2 weeks until the Oct. 19 seeding meeting, the number of area state-ranked high school soccer teams is dwindling.
Six are in the latest rankings, including the undefeated Mohawk boys and Hamilton Central boys and girls teams.
The girls teams are: Clinton (11th in Class B), Hamilton (5th Class D) and Remsen (11th Class D). The boys are: Mohawk (5th in Class C), Poland (6th in Class D) and Hamilton (11th in Class D).

Nine area teams were among the state-ranked schools the last time I posted on this space, on Sept. 24. The teams that dropped out were: Mount Markham and Cooperstown boys and the Mohawk girls.

Still ranked - #1 in boys Class D - is Chazy with a 12-1 record.

Too bad someone is not paying closer attention to what's going on with teams in the area! In case no one has noticed, Whitesboro, a AA school, has an excellent team this year with an 10-2-1 record to date.

In addition they have some excellent players that have been completely overlooked and recieved NO recognition.

First, Joe Rucco; probably the best midfielder and all around player in the TVL, much less the CNY area. He leads the team with excellent skills on both sides of the ball, superior field vision and knowledge of the game, and is a consistent key player with his ability as scoring threat and assists to his teammates.

Vinny Barbato is a top forward who is an aggressive and tough goal scorer who led the TVL last year and will probably do so again. His speed and determination on the ball make him a constant offensive threat.

Mike Gigliotti, probably one of the quickest players in the league, creates many scoring opportunities with his reaction to the ball and ability to play both from the right and left sides.

Jordan Culver, a fine defensive player at sweeper, that has kept his team in many games with his defensive abilities keeping opponents at bay, but also through his ability to push up the field and support the offense.

Kevin Donato, is a solid right back that is able to run down and close down opposing players. His work rate and solid play help anchor the teams defense.

So, with all due respect to the ranked teams, as well as other teams in the area, Whitesboro deserves some better recognition.

As a follow-up; I want to be clear, I am not taking away from the many other talented players on the Whitesboro team. I was only trying to provide some insight to the fact that a very good team has gotten overlooked in this area. Also, my apologies to Jordan, his last name is spelled Collver.

Take a chill pill dad. Why don't you submit a press release with highlights of each game.

It seems you don't live up to your screenname, instead of nothing but the truth, it seems you simply have nothing constructive to add, so maybe you should just stay off the blog!
