Anne Delaney: Not running up the score
There was more to Sauquoit Valley's 7-0 win over Canastota in boys soccer on Monday night.
Indians coach Rick Purcell played the second half with 10 men on the field after scoring all their goals in the first half. Canastota is a young team, not long ago the Raiders were not able to field a varsity team. Purcell's move was not only legal - teams can play with as few as 7 men on the field. Purcell's decision was a nice way not to embarrass an opponent.

Well, that may have been a class act but you know what was not? Notre Dame Varsity football coaches. Up 35-0 in the 4th quarter against West Canada Valley and they have their starters in until they scored to make it 42-0 only to put their 2nd string D in with 3:52 to go in the game. I guess getting 1 starter hurt against NY Mills while trying to run up the score was not enough of a lesson. No Class there at all!
Lots of issues with this. Players need reps...did the game go to running time??
Lets not get too worried about stuff lke this...their was a womes hockey game for Olympic qualifying recently that as 81-0..thats an issue
