Allen in right place at right time

In the top of the fourth inning of New Hartford's state regional playoff game against Franklin Academy, Spartans pitcher Haley Butler's throwing error allowed Abby Premo to reach base. Butler threw high to first baseman Maureen McCoy and the ball went to the fence. Premo took off for second base. New Hartford right fielder Caitlynn Allen backed up the play and threw the ball to shortstop Dominique Carcone, who tagged Premo well before the runner reached the bag for the second out of the inning.

New Hartford led 1-0 at the time, and though Franklin Academy would go on to tie the game at 1-1 in the fifth, Allen's play was key.
