Trophies
feature work from Hamilton graduate
UTICA — For
the third year in a row, Accent on Excellence honorees will receive
a trophy that demonstrates the “limitless possibilities” before
them.
The trophies, which feature
a sphere or planet on a Plexiglass stand, are designed by Josh
Simpson, a well-respected, contemporary glass artist and 1972
graduate of Hamilton College.
“The planet is not
the Earth, but some world with limitless possibilities,” in keeping
with what these young leaders have demonstrated in their personal
and professional lives, Simpson told the Observer-Dispatch.
The sphere designed for Accent
on Excellence is a solid piece of multiple layers of glass built
from the inside out, according to Simpson. He added gold, silver
and platinum to the layers to give the appearance of lush continents,
blue ocean and clouds in the sky. The trophies are designed at
his studio in Shelburne, Mass.
Simpson’s services were secured
by the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute.
